BOSNICH HUMBLE AFTER SPECTACULAR PERFORMANCE FOR MARINERS

The Central Coast Mariners have today added another recruit, signing up Australian youth international defender Pedj Bojic for season four. Meantime, Mark Bosnich has increased his chances of being offered a contract with the team after making a spectacular return to football. Bosnich pulled off several impressive saves to help the Mariners to a 3-nil win over Sydney FC in round two of the A-League’s Pre-Season Cup.

CRUSADERS SECURE FINALS BERTH

The Central Coast Crusaders are through to the finals of the men’s Waratah Australian Baskebtall League after victory over the Illawarra Hawks. Despite a slow start, the Crusaders finished 8 points ahead of the Hawks, to keep their season alive. The final score: 89 to 81.

Terrigal Avoca has leap-frogged Gosford to move into fifth place in the Black Diamond Cup competition. The other weekend games saw Killarney Vale trounce Nelson Bay and Newcastle City outclass Warners Bay, while Wyong Lakes proved too good for Lake Macquarie. CENTRAL COAST RUGBY LEAGUE, ROUND 17

Erina has scored an upset 24 to 16 victory over Umina Beach in the Central Coast Rugby League competition. In the other round 17 results, Ourimbah had a big win over Kincumber, 60 points to 14, The Entrance trounced Northern Lakes 52 to 12 and Berkeley Vale scored 36 points to Woy Woy’s 30.

BOSNICH’S IMPRESSIVE DEBUT

Former Socceroo keeper Mark Bosnich has made a spectacular return to top-flight football in the A-League. The 36-year-old became an instant crowd favourite when he walked onto the pitch in front of 7000 Central Coast fans in Gosford. Bosnich showed glimpses of his best to help the Mariners keep a clean sheet. The Central Coast eventually beating Sydney three nil in their Pre Season Cup clash.
