CENTRAL COAST UNITED TO FACE HURSTVILLE TONIGHT

Round 5 of the FFA Cup gets underway tonight, with plenty of Central Coast teams still in contention. Terrigal take on Sydney Olympic at Pluim Park at 7pm, while Killarney District and Berkeley Vale are both away. Central Coast United will be hoping to extend its golden run of form against Hurstville City at Peakhurst Park. The team in red and black sealed a 4-0 win over Sydney University in the previous round of the national knockout competition.

ROOS RUN RIOT AGAINST SHARKS

To Central Coast Rugby League now, and Terrigal might have broken one of the longest droughts in Central Coast sporting history in last year’s grand final against Wyong, But they were simply no match for Tony Clarke’s men in the match of the round. The Roos blowing the Sharks off the park – scoring eight tries to one. Five-eighth Lachlan Hanneghan was a standout, setting up this four pointer for Isaiah Tetevano. The Roos winners 46 to four and on a collision course with joint leaders The Entrance Tigers this weekend. (Audio in parts)

BURTON BAGS WORLD CUP BRONZE

Gosford sailor Tom Burton has claimed bronze in the third round of the World Cup Laser Series in France. After a slow start to his campaign, the Rio Olympic champion hit top form with three victories in total, and a third in the final race of the regatta. Next up is the European Championships commencing this weekend in La Rochelle, west of France. (Audio in parts)

ROOS EXTEND LOSING STREAK TO FIVE MATCHES

Wyong has extended its disappointing run of form – with a fifth successive loss in the New South Wales Cup. The Roos suffered a 40-point defeat to Mounties at Morry Breen Oval this afternoon. The visitors dominated from the outset, with four tries in the first half hour. Josh Mantellato bagged a consolation try for Rip Taylor’s men, but Mounties continued to control the game, going on to seal a runaway win. The Roos now shift their focus to next Saturday’s clash with the Knights.
