BUILDEV STEELED FOR OLD BHP SITE

Next year, it’ll be a decade since the closure of the BHP steelworks in Newcastle. It’s perhaps appropriate then, that 2009 will also mark the the start of the site’s reinvention. Local property developer Buildev has won a bid to redevelop a large chunk of land, nearly a third of the sprawling Mayfield site.

COUNCILLOR BELIEVES BLUE AND WHITE IS THE ANSWER

A Wyong Shire Councillor will put forward a rescission motion in the hope of getting council employed lifeguards back into their original blue and white uniform. Currently, both council guards and volunteers lifesavers wear yellow and red, and Ms Matthews believes many beach-goers are not aware of the difference.
