WOMAN ARRESTED AFTER ATTEMPTING TO BRIBE POLICE OFFICER

Further charges are expected to be laid against a 30-year-old woman, after she was caught attempting to bribe a police officer on the Central Coast. Officers stopped a Holden Commodore on the M1 motorway at Calga, just before midday yesterday, issuing the driver with a defect notice. It’s alleged while the officer was awaiting the arrival of other police the woman approached him, offering money for her release. The conversation was recorded by the officers in-car camera. It’s further alleged the woman returned a positive reading for Methylamphetamine. She was refused bail, and will reappear in Wyong Bail Court today.

MAJOR DRUG RAIDS AT SIX CENTRAL COAST PROPERTIES

Police investigating the importation of Methamphetamines have raided several Central Coast properties. Witnesses say armed riot Police stormed a holding yard on the corner of Gavenlock Road and Anzac Avenue at around 8.40 this morning, evacuating workers and searching shipping containers on the property. Five other search warrants were executed simultaneously at Tuggerah, Terrigal, Wamberal, Berkeley Vale and Glenning Vale where a number of items were seized. Police say a 42-year-old man was taken into custody at Terrigal and is assisting police with their enquiries. The planned operation was part of an ongoing investigation by the Organised Crime Squad. ANOTHER LIFE LOST ON THE M1

It’s been a tragic week on the M1. This time, a man driving the wrong way on the Central Coast has been killed in a head-on collision. It’s believed the 72-year-old took a wrong turn as he left a service station at Warnervale. A truck travelling south alerted the driver, but he failed to slow down… with the shaken truckie telling Ray Hadley how he narrowly avoided the accident. “I flashed my lights at him, he flashed his lights at me. i didn’t even see any brake lights and i was just lucky that there was no cars behind me in the left lane so i was able to get out of the way, and went past, and i believe the next car that was coming at him was the car that he hit” A ute coming off Sparks Road …

DRUGS, REPLICA PISTOLS SEIZED IN CENTRAL COAST SEARCH

Two people have been arrested, after police allegedly seized drugs, replica pistols and a cache of prohibited weapons during a search warrant on the Central Coast. Around 7am yesterday, officers searched a home on Gilda Drive, Narara, north of Gosford. During the search, police located an unregistered air rifle, four replica pistols, a replica uzi sub machine gun and prohibited weapons including flick knives and knuckle dusters. A hydroponic cannabis setup was also found. A man and a woman, both aged 45, were arrested at the home and taken to Gosford Police Station. The man was charged with various offences, and granted conditional bail to appear at Gosford Local Court on August 21. The woman was released pending further inquiries.

ANOTHER FATAL CRASH ON THE M1 MOTORWAY

A 72-year-old man has died, in a head-on collision on the M1 at Warnervale this morning. Around 4.30am, emergency services were called to the southbound lanes of the M1, near the Sparks Road off ramp. It’s believed a driver was travelling in the wrong direction on the southern exit ramp of the motorway, when a northbound sedan and a southbound utility collided. The driver of the sedan died at the scene. The 26-year-old male occupant of the utility was treated at the scene and taken to Gosford Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and underwent mandatory testing. Both vehicles have been removed for further mechanical examination. All southbound lanes have now re-opened.
