Stephen Mount began his media career as a reporter and producer with NBN almost 20 years ago before taking up a role with National Nine News in 2003, where he was the Northern Territory's sport and weekend news presenter and presenter / producer of his own weekly sports show. In 2006 he joined the Newcastle Knights as Media and Communications Manager where he spent five seasons before moving to the Hunter Medical Research Institute. After six years in business management he's returned to NBN as a casual reporter and producer while studying law at the University of Newcastle.

PORT STEPHENS FISHERMAN REEL IN GREAT WHITE SHARK

Two fisherman at Hawks Nest landed more than the feed they set out for yesterday, hauling in a Great White Shark on Bennetts Beach. After a 30 minute fight, they landed their surprise catch on the sand – a tagged juvenile around two and a half metres long. The fishermen unhooked the white pointer and released it back into the ocean. The haul comes after a week of shark sightings between the surf club and Yacaaba headland.   Video: Terri Burrows

TWO MEN AIRLIFTED TO HOSPITAL FOLLOWING WOLLOMBI CRASH

Two men have been airlifted to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital after the car they were travelling in hit a tree near Wollombi in the Hunter Valley. It’s understood the 29-year-olds were travelling along Paynes Crossing Road around midday when the driver swerved to avoid a kangaroo, before losing control of the vehicle and crashing through a fence. One of the men suffered neck and feet injuries, the other was taken to hospital as a precaution.

FREEZING START ACROSS THE HUNTER
