BUSH TUCKER TO STAR AT FOOD FESTIVAL

A food festival at Nelson Bay on Nov 7 and 8 promises to unlock some of the secrets, surrounding uniquely Australian cuisine. Bush tucker chef Mark O’Brien is among those dishing up Aussie treats like Salt and Pepper Crocodile, and Peppered Kangaroo Bites. The menu also includes Emu Prosciutto and Lemon Myrtle Barramundi. WILL SIR RICHARD BRANSON GET SUPERYACHT ENVY?

We hope Sir Richard Branson doesn’t get a complex about the size of his super-catamaran, because another visiting super yacht has sailed into Newcastle Harbour which makes Branson’s boat look like a toy. The two masted sailing yacht, Squall, believed to be owned by a Scottish barron is undergoing work at Newcastle’s superyacht maintenance facility. At 52 metres long, the luxury craft boasts a main-mast that’s taller than an olympic swimming pool is long. The charter fee of $180,000 a week can be split between ten guests.

‘KEVIN RUDD’ VISITS NEWCASTLE

Newcastle had a surprise visit from the Prime Minister today. At least he looked a bit like Kevin Rudd. Comedian Phil Scott was warming up for the Wharf Review at the Civic Theatre tonight. The show, titled Pennies from Kevin, lampoons a range of well known characters. “Wayne Swan, Peter Garrett, KD Wong and Malcolm, ahh his name escapes me.”
