THE GREY FERGIE CELEBRATED IN BENDEMEER

It’s an event that celebrates one of agriculture’s longest serving work horses and organisers say this year’s Grey Fergie Muster at Bendemeer was the biggest ever. “Which started to be made in 1947 and we had quite a lot of those original Fergies here this weekend and I think our official count was about 150.” The event started back in 2003 – and is held every three years. This year tractors making the trek from all over the country to take part. “We had one crew come up from Bendigo in Victoria another huge contingent of tractors from the Toowoomba area, Brisbane right up to the Glasshouse Mountains.” (vision and audio in parts)

SUSPICIOUS CAR FIRE IN NARRABRI

Police are appealing for information following a suspicious car fire in Narrabri early this morning. Emergency services were called to the railway bridge on Maitland Street just after 5am, to find a Toyota Camry well alight. Fire crews worked quickly to extinguish the blaze, which had spread to nearby grass. (vision only)

ELDERLY MAN DIES AFTER TAMWORTH CRASH

An elderly man has died, following a car accident in Tamworth on Friday afternoon. Emergency services were called to Marius Street at around 2pm, after a car travelling north mounted the footpath and collided with a brick fence. The 84-year-old male driver was rushed to Tamworth Hospital, but sadly died later that night. His 73-year-old female passenger was not injured. Police believe the driver suffered a medical condition just before the crash.
