SCHOOL GIRL CHARGED OVER HOUSE FIRE NEAR ARMIDALE

A teenage girl has been charged following a house fire in the New England region last night. Emergency crews were called to the Bundarra Road property, Invergowrie just after 8.30pm. On arrival, police were told a 14 year old girl had allegedly assaulted two people, damaged cars before starting the blaze. The girl was arrested and has been charged. The house was extensively damaged.

MAN CHARGED AFTER TENSE STAND-OFF ON TOP OF BURNING CAR

A 20 year old man has been charged with numerous offences following a tense stand-off on top of a burning car in Lake Macquarie. About 4pm yesterday fire and rescue NSW officers were called out to a car fire in bushland on Croudace Road, Tingira Heights. Emergency crews were forced to call in police after the man allegedly refused to get down from the burning vehicle. Officers used capsicum spray on the man after he allegedly sprayed them with paint . He was eventually arrested and charged with several offences including assaulting police, lighting fire and resisting arrest. The Marks Point man will front court today.   Note no audio

CAPSICUM SPRAY USED TO ARREST MAN AT WINDALE

There was a tense situation at Lake Macquarie this afternoon as police confronted a man standing on top of a burning car. Emergency crews were called to bushland at Windale following reports a vehicle was on fire. Officers used capsicum spray on the man after he allegedly refused to come down. The 20-year-old was eventually arrested.

NO WASTE FEE EXEMPTION FOR STOCKTON CLEAN UP

The EPA has refused to waive a waste levy for Newcastle Council and Hunter Water, after thousands of tonnes of rubbish was unearthed at Stockton Beach earlier this year. Powerful swell uncovered the old tip, but the EPA says the erosion event wasn’t declared a natural disaster, so it’s unable to grant an exemption.
