GAV’S SURF: MIXED CONDITIONS AHEAD OF WEEKEND

It’s not ideal conditions this weekend if you’re looking for a wave. Strong onshore winds and rain for the Gold Coast and NE NSW is expected to continue while the swell should remain the same. The MNC and Hunter coast should have a morning NW but the NE winds are expected to be strong in the afternoon so head to the northern corners for the best waves.

GAV’S WEATHER: RAIN ON THE WAY

The big wet for SE QLD and NE NSW has begun with heavy falls and flooding expected before the rain moves south towards the Coffs Coast. It will remain hot for the NW, Greater Hunter and MNC with afternoon storms. A southerly change is on the way for Sunday with widespread rain affecting most of the broadcast region.

GAV’S WEATHER: FINING UP AS TEMPERATURES RISE

The North West region was largely cloud free with cloud cover mostly confined to the coast with the swell beginning to ease along with the strong winds. Another fine looking day is on the way with partly cloudy skies continuing to plague the coast as the sun shines inland and the temperatures continue to rise. The next change is expected to comes through over the weekend.

GAV’S WEATHER: NICE TO HAVE RAIN ON THE GROUND

The local region was largely cloud affected with showers mostly confined to the coast while the swell will begin to ease along with the strong SE winds. The wet weather will continue to contract north into QLD with only a few isolated showers to fall on the northern NSW and SE QLD coasts. Cyclone Gita is now beginning to make its way towards NZ as ex Cyclone Kelvin moves towards the Nullabor. Things will dry back out inland.

GAV’S WEATHER: SIGNIFICANT CHANGE MOVING THROUGH

Ex cyclone Gita is deteriorating in the Tasman while a southerly change moves up the NSW coast. As the two systems collide a new pulse of swell will arrive while the ex cyclone will make it’s way towards New Zealand. Tonight more storm cells will continue across the north west of the state before contracting north and clearing tomorrow. Rain will also increase along the coast as onshore south easterly winds build.

GAV’S WEATHER – TUESDAY’S FORECAST

There’s more jet stream cloud streaking its way across southern Australia. Dry and sunny elsewhere. The jet stream cloud will make its way across southern Australia and affect the local region tomorrow. There will be a weak front and associated trough that will make its way up the coast causing some showers. Tomorrow will be cloud affected with some wet weather developing on the ranges and afternoon showers and storms. Fine and hot elsewhere.
