GAV’S WEATHER – WET START TO THE WEEKEND

The low in the Bight is producing some welcome inland rain for NSW. Moisture content has increased with the cloud cover building over Queensland as the two troughs merge. The slow moving system will move into eastern NSW. There it will link up with the trough in the north and draw some tropical moisture southward. This will help feed the system as it passes delivering some widespread welcome inland . Fall across the NBN region will be patchy with the better fall along the coast and in the far north-west areas in between will be only receive small amounts of rain.

GAV’S WEATHER – FINE AHEAD OF END OF WEEK RAIN

On the satellite there are two distinct weather features. The low in the Tasman and the low moving across SA. The low in the Bight is going to produce some welcome inland rain for eastern Australia building from Friday for the local region. This rain band will affect us on Saturday before clearing during Sunday. The one in the Tasman will continue to generate a moderate swell hitting the coast again tomorrow.

GAV’S WEATHER – COASTAL WEATHER DETERIORATING OVER THE WEEKEND

A trough over the east coast will begin to deepen tomorrow so we’ll see more cloud cover at times and showers will start to develop as we move towards Saturday evening. On Sunday the trough will deepen further producing widespread showers and rain periods affecting most of the coast east of the Divide, with some lighter isolated falls affecting the north-west. An ECL will form on Monday and the wet weather will move in as it moves off shore.

It was a great week of swell but over the weekend the oceans will settle down and the winds will be light and variable so try and keep away from the high tide. Next week another east coast low will form and another big week of waves will unfold for the Monday to Friday surf hounds.

Small and clean tomorrow morning, work the falling tide. The arvo high tide will gobble up a lot of the swell and the afternoon sea breezes will mess up the situation a bit. So hit the northern exposed corners after lunch along the NSW coast. Remaining small on Sunday.

GAV’S WEATHER – AWESOME AUTUMN WEEKEND

There is very little cloud cover over the nation and the local region at the moment. The inland trough will remain stalled as the high moves out over the Tasman. A front is going to sweep across the South-East offering little in the way of rain but will provide another chilly change pushing through on Sunday. A fantastic start to the weekend is on the way under fine, mostly sunny dry skies and warm daytime temperatures.

GAV’S WEATHER – MORE COOL AIR IS ON THE WAY AFTER A WARM START TO THE WEEK

A pre-frontal trough has produced scattered cloud across northern NSW and southern Queensland while the the southern half of the state saw increased cloud form the latest approaching cold front. In between, the Hunter Valley soaked up the sunshine today. The cold front will pass over tonight and tomorrow moving out to sea quickly allowing cooler, southerly air to move in across the region triggering scattered showers tomorrow.
