HARTSUYKER SUPPORTING BANKING ROYAL COMMISSION

Member for Cowper Luke Hartsuyker has today spoken out about his support for a royal commission into the banking and finance sector. Mr Hartsuyker joins a number of Nationals MPs open to the move, saying several locals in the Cowper electorate have voiced their concerns about numerous banks. “A royal commission into the banking industry has some merit, we currently have a banking inquiry underway and I don’t think we should be ruling anything in or out until that baking inquiry is concluded.” Malcolm Turnbull and a number of his front bench colleagues have been accused of playing down the importance of holding a royal commission.

BONVILLE MAN IMPALED ON STAR PICKET

A 45-year-old Bonville man is receiving treatment at the Gold Coast University Hospital after being impaled on a star picket during renovations at his home. Around 1.20pm yesterday, New South Wales Ambulance attended the scene after it was reported he fell from a ladder and suffered serious injuries. He underwent surgery at Coffs Harbour Hospital and was later airlifted by Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter.

FIRE DESTROYS MID NORTH COAST HOME

PHOTO: Thanks to Mitch Buckley. Fire has gutted a home at Woolgoolga on the mid north coast. High Street residents raised the alarm just before 2.30pm, but emergency crews were unable to save the property from the fierce flames. “Pretty huge extending out of the house and heading upwards of 3 or 4 metres in the air, the whole front verandah went up, that was what I first saw, a lot of explosions a fair few bangs.” Said Witness Corey Barkman. Police are now attempting to contact the home’s residents. It’s not known what caused the blaze.
