QUARRY EXPANSION KNOCKED BACK BY BELLO COUNCIL

An application to expand a Dorrigo quarry has been rejected four votes to three by the Bellingen Shire Council.
EMS Quarries wanted to extract more gravel for the Pacific Highway upgrade and use more trucks to transport it down Waterfall Way.
The development application sought to increase the number of gravel truck trips from 20 to 40 a day and to increase the capacity of those trucks from 22 to 32 tonnes per load.
Residents who opposed the plan are now concerned another quarry might make a similar application to the Clarence Valley Council and if approved – gravel trucks would still use Waterfall Way.
