Staff at Lismore Base Hospital have officially welcomed 18 new nurses and five midwifery graduates to the team.
The recruits were treated to lunch and a meet and greet with the local member, Thomas George, who had some reassuring advice for the new health care professionals.
“There’s a lot of talk about cut backs in the health – but let me assure you that Jillian Skinner, the minister has concentrated on having front line services re-enforced.”
With a pilot home birth trial being carried out across the region, this year’s midwifery graduates have a diverse training program to look forward to.
“They will certainly be exposed to a large range of clients and anti natal – intra pardem and post natal care.”
