Convicted rapist Warren McCorriston out on parole

Convicted rapist Warren McCorriston has been sentenced to a non-parole period of one year and three months, but due to time already served he’s a free man – out on parole.

Today the 64 year old was sentenced on one count of detain for advantage, in relation to an attempted abduction at Gateshead in Lake Macquarie in 1980.

Police facts reveal the offender accepts his intention was to force the 16 year old girl into his car, so that he could seek to have sexual contact with her.

The woman told friends at the time of the incident in 1980 and reported the matter to police in 2023 – ringing Crime Stoppers after watching a TV show about missing Lake Macquarie teen Gordana Kotevski.

Justice Tim Gartelmann today told the court the former resort manager, “had been convicted of several sexual and violent offences from the 1980s to late 1990s.”

Warren McCorriston’s parole will finish in February 2026.
