MORE INFORMATION NEEDED BEFORE DECISION OVER CONTROVERSIAL HUNTER MINE EXPANSION

It’s been debated for years, but a decision to expand a controversial Hunter coal mine has again been delayed.

The Independent Planning Commission is seeking more information about its culture and heritage from the Department of Planning.

The move would support hundreds of mining jobs in Muswellbrook, but an independent recommendation could see this expansion – and others – blocked.
