Central Coast man Sayle Newson has been jailed for 27 years for murdering his girlfriend, Carly McBride in the Hunter.

A judge today found Newson killed Ms McBride in a “jealous rage”, shortly after she left her former partner’s home at Muswellbrook in 2014.

Ms McBride’s remains were discovered almost two years later in bushland near Scone and was found to have suffered 26 fractures to her skull.

Newson was sentenced to a minimum 19 years and seven months jail.

In a statement through his solicitor, the 44-year-old “maintains his innocence” and “continues to deny any involvement in the disappearance and murder of Carly McBride.” He is appealing the conviction.
