A woman has died after a serious crash on the North Coast yesterday.
About 3pm on November 1, emergency services were called to Moon Street at Ballina.
Police were told an 82-year-old woman was getting into the passenger side of a parked Hyundai Getz when the car reversed and mounted a curb.
The woman was thrown to the ground and suffered serious head injuries.
She was treated on scene by paramedics before being taken to Lismore Base Hospital, where she later died.
The driver – an 88-year-old woman – was uninjured and taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
Police have started an investigation into the incident.
A report will now be prepared for the Coroner.
