SMITH SNARES TWO IN THUNDER LOSS

The Sydney Thunder may have gone down in its opening clash of the Women’s Big Bash League, but the Central Coast’s Lauren Smith was heavily involved for the reigning champions.

The 25 year-old took the prized wicket of Adelaide captain and top-scorer Tahlia McGrath in the 17th over.

Just three balls later, she also snared Madeline Penna.

Chasing 140, her side fell well short – managing just 110, with Smith run out for two.

The Thunder now face Sydney rivals The Sixers in Tassie this weekend.
