SOCIAL GATHERINGS BLAMED FOR MID COAST COVID OUTBREAK

Health authorities are blaming social gatherings for the covid outbreak in the MidCoast LGA.

13 new cases were reported today – nine in Taree, three at Forster and one at Glenthorne.

The source of two remains a mystery.

People are again being urged to obey public health orders and avoid unnecessary travel.

“The transmission that we see was all in social or family groups this is an important lesson for all of us again if we congregate the virus rapid spreads like a wildfire,” Public Health Controller Dr David Durrheim said.

There were also two new cases in the Port Macquarie area, and one each at Kempsey and Grafton, all linked to known sources.
