POLICE INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED AFTER MAN SUFFERS KNIFE WOUNDS

Police have started an investigation after a man presented to paramedics with knife wounds in Newcastle.

About 6.35pm on October 5, police were called to Bunn Street in Wallsend, after being told that a 41-year-old man had wounds to his wrist and chest.

He was taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment.

Around the same time, police were called to reports of an alleged brawl outside a home on nearby Bousfield Street.

Detectives are investigating how the man came to be injured, including whether the two incidents are linked.

Anyone who saw or heard anything in the area between 5.30pm and 7pm is urged to contact Waratah Police.
