CENTRAL COAST SEES SPIKE IN NEW COVID-19 CASES

New South Wales has recorded 1,220 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 overnight.

8 people died – all were over the age of 50, and the majority were unvaccinated. A number of those people also had significant, underlying health conditions.

There are another 7 cases in the Hunter New England Health District – 2 in Port Stephens, 1 Lake Macquarie, 1 in Newcastle, 1 in Maitland and 1 in the Mid Coast LGA.

Four of the Hunter’s new cases were infectious in the community. Five of them have been linked to known sources.

The Central Coast has recorded 22 new cases.

Traces of the virus have also been detected in sewage at Brooklyn, where there are no known recent cases.

NSW Health is urging the Central Coast community to be extra vigilant, and come forward for testing.
