Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash near Port Macquarie early this morning.
Just after 3.30am, emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway, about 1 kilometre south of the Oxley Highway off-ramp at Thrumster, after reports two trucks crashed.
Officers including Highway Patrol attended and saw both trucks well alight. Trees and bushes along the highway were also on fire.
Fire crews extinguished the blaze a short time later.
The drivers of both vehicles died at the scene; they’re yet to be formally identified.
An investigation into the incident has started, and police will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
