COVID POSITIVE LAKE MACQUARIE WOMAN TRAVELS TO HUNTER VALLEY

A covid-positive Lake Macquarie woman has been fined $5,000 after she was found at a Hunter Valley property, when she should have been isolating.

Police undertook a welfare check at a Teralba home on Saturday morning when they found only three out of the four residents there self-isolating.

Following inquiries, the 20-year-old woman with the virus was found more than 30 kilometres away at a home in Kurri Kurri.

New South Wales Police Deputy Commissioner Gary Worboys says the Teralba home will now be monitored on a more regular basis.

“In this instance, where we have someone that clearly puts people at risk and goes outside of the agreement that has been reached, we will put that to the top if the list,” Dept Commissioner Worboys said.

“People need to understand if you’re under one of these orders or directions, that you need to stay put, that you need to do what is asked of you.”
