POLICE INVESTIGATE SHORTLAND GATHERING FOR COVID-19 BREACHES

Police have confirmed they’re conducting inquiries into a gathering at a Shortland premises on Wednesday 28 July.

It’s part of an overall investigation into potential breaches of the Public Health Order in Newcastle City and Lake Macquarie.

Meanwhile, Hunter New England Health Physician Dr David Durrheim is urgently calling on casual and close contacts of recently listed exposure sites to come forward for a COVID-19 test.

“It’s extremely disappointing to learn, belatedly, that members of the party group from Blacksmiths Beach and from the Wallsend/Shortland gathering unfortunately also attended three of our busiest night clubs and licensed venues in Newcastle on July 30.”

Inquiries are continuing, and police are continuing to remind members of the public to report any alleged breaches of the Public Health Order to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Every report is being further investigated by NSW Police.
