NEW SOUTH WALES RECORDS 291 NEW COVID CASES

New South Wales has recorded another spike in COVID cases, with 291 people testing positive overnight.

This is from 110,000 tests and at least 50 were infectious while out in the community.

An unvaccinated woman her 60s from south-western Sydney died after acquiring the infection in Liverpool Hospital.

Among the new cases, two people tested positive in the Hunter:

  • a woman in her 60s linked to known cases in a Central Coast household
  • a woman in her 20s, who’s a household contact of a case identified in Newcastle yesterday

It takes the region’s tally to seven.

Hundreds of people have come out to get themselves tested across the Hunter New England Health district in the past 24 hours.

The health network has extended clinic hours and opened new clinics as well.
