BYRON BAY WASTE WATER TEST RESULTS NEGATIVE FOR COVID FRAGMENTS

Further testing of Byron Bay’s waste water has come back negative for covid fragments.

The virus had been detected at the sewage treatment plant on Friday.

Health authorities raised concerns about the findings, as there hadn’t been a positive case locally for more than 100 days.

Byron’s treatment plant will be tested daily, while other North Coast sites will continue to be monitored weekly.

It comes as the region remains on alert – after a positive case travelled through Ballina Airport on July 14.
