MORE ROADS FUNDING INCLUDED FOR THE HUNTER IN BUDGET
There are no new major items for the Hunter in this year’s state budget, but several existing projects have been given a boost – particularly road upgrades.
The Berejiklian government has delivered on its by-election promise to upgrade badly damaged and potholed roads in the Dungog Shire – to the tune of $25 million, announced earlier this year.
$29 million has been set aside to finalise planning for stage five of the Newcastle Inner City Bypass between Rankin Park and Jesmond.
More than $28 million will go towards continued planning for the M1 upgrade at Raymond Terrace and Hexham and more than $26 million has been allocated to start construction on the New England Highway upgrade between Belford and the Golden Highway.
The long-awaited Nelson Bay Road duplication has been given another $7.5 million.
