FUNDING FOR SPORTS AND ENTERTAINMENT PRECINCT IN BUDGET

$6.7 million has been set aside in tonight’s state budget to develop a ‘final business case’ for the long-anticipated Hunter Sports and Entertainment Precinct.

The project’s been talked about for the better part of a decade and a draft concept plan was released in 2017 by then Sports Minister Stuart Ayres.

Treasurer Dominic Perrottet said it will include as many as 2600 homes and more than 30 hectares of revamped public space.

He added more than 8000 jobs could be created during a possible “12 year construction phase.”

The business case will be developed over the next two years.
