VOLUNTEERS PLANT THOUSANDS OF TREES AT JESMOND

What better way to mark World Environment Day than with a mass tree planting.

Volunteers, young and old got their hands dirty at Maclure Reserve at Jesmond, planting more than 5,000 native trees, shrubs, and grasses.

The Newcastle council-run program is part of a larger effort to expand and improve on the city’s green spaces.
