NEW HIGH SCHOOL TO BE BUILT FOR WEE WAA

The state’s education minister has announced a new multi-million dollar high school for Wee Waa.

The old site was closed in November last year after several staff and students developed skin rashes, respiratory difficulties, headaches and nausea.

Students have since been learning from a temporary high school site, on the Wee Waa Public School campus.

The Department of Education will now develop a design for the new high school.

The school will include new learning spaces, core facilities, an agricultural centre and sports courts.

A preferred location has been identified, and initial consultation has started with school leadership, Narrabri Shire Council and local Aboriginal groups.

The Wee Waa community is invited to an information session at the Wee Waa Public School Hall, located at 41 Cowper Street, on Wednesday 23 June 2021 from 3.00pm to 6.30pm to find out more about the project scope and benefits, timeline and the design approach.
