MAN CHARGED OVER DRUG SUPPLY AT RAYMOND TERRACE

A Stockton man has been arrested, after allegedly trying to flee police while carrying a bag of drugs and more than $32,000 in cash in Raymond Terrace.

At around 10.45pm last night, police tried to speak to the 23-year-old on Parkway Avenue.

Officers say he immediately ran away from them and tossed away a bag he had been carrying on Wahroonga Street.

He was arrested shortly after and the bag recovered.

Inside, police say they found more than 100 grams of methylamphetamine, 80 grams of an unknown white powder, prescription medication and $32,840 in cash.

The items will be forensically examined.

The man was charged with a range of offences, including supplying a prohibited drug in an indictable quantity.

He faced Newcastle Bail Court today.
