TAMWORTH JOCKEY CLUB WELCOMES NEW MANAGER AND UPGRADES

Tamworth Jockey Club has welcomed some important additions this week.

Michael Buckley starting as the club’s new General Manager, after being appointed last month.

He’s the club’s fourth G-M in two years and has previously worked a similar role in Newcastle.

Meanwhile, the facility has also received $1.5-million in funding from Racing New South Wales, to upgrade its sand track.

The improvements will include a new surface and upgraded drainage system.

“It’ll be fantastic, it’s a major piece of training infrastructure and the Tamworth trainers do a fantastic job already, given the facilities they’ve got, but it’ll only further improve their race day performance.”

Works start on May 25 and take around four months to complete.
