TWO PEOPLE RESCUED AT COAL SHAFT BAY

Two people have been rescued, after their vessel came dangerously close to the rocks at Coal Shaft Bay, off Broughton Island early this morning.
Marine Rescue Port Stephens received a MAYDAY call for an 11-metre mono sail, at around 5.30am.
A rescue crew was immediately sent out and the MAYDAY relayed to all ships.
A nearby vessel responded to the call and helped get them to safer water.
When the Marine Rescue crew arrived, they found the two people onboard safe and well and able to head back to Port Stephens unassisted.
