GARAGE BURSTS INTO FLAMES AT WARNERS BAY

Firefighters leapt into action to extinguish a garage fire at Warners Bay, after spotting smoke in the distance.

They were already on their way to the scene, just before midday yesterday, when an alert came through.

When they arrived, they saw fire engulfing the back of the property and quickly got to work containing its spread.

Asbestos was found inside and a HAZMAT team was called in to seal it up, firefighters bagging and tagging their gear for deep cleaning afterwards.

No one was injured.

A fire pit is believed to be the culprit, prompting a warning to ensure hot coals are thoroughly extinguished after use.
