THREE CHILDREN IN CAR DURING HIGH-SPEED PURSUIT

An unlicensed driver has been charged following a police chase, with three children under the age of five inside the car.

Police say the 35-year-old held an expired learner permit and had been disqualified from driving.

Highway Patrol officers detected a Holden Commodore speeding on the M1 motorway at Mooney Mooney around 11.20pm on Sunday night.

When the driver failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated.

The car was allegedly speeding above 200km/h in a 110km/h zone during the pursuit.

A short time later the car stopped after crashing into a concrete barrier.

The car was carrying a 28-year-old woman, two boys aged seven months and five years, and a 3-year-old girl.

All were taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead to be checked, with the girl treated for bruising.

The driver was arrested and taken to Hornsby Police Station where he was hit with a string of charges, including low range drink driving.

He was refused bail to attend court today.
