SEVERE WEATHER WARNING ISSUES FOR THE NORTH COAST

Residents are being warned to prepare for floods with a deluge of rain hitting the North Coast right now.

Areas including the Hunter and Coffs Harbour are copping a downpour and it’s only expected to get heavier over the next few days.

A heavy rain warning is in place between Yamba and Newcastle, with flash flooding already reported.

A school in Coffs Harbour has been evacuated amid fears the access road will cut off by flood waters.

The SES has already received calls from people asking for sandbags, plus reports of leaking or damaged roofs, and trees down.

Tomaree SES unit has been the busiest, followed by Forster Pacific Palms and Coffs Harbour City units.

100mm of rain is forecast in the Hunter Region on Friday and Saturday.

More to come.
