STREETS OF KOTARA LOCKED DOWN AFTER DOMESTIC INCIDENT

Two people have been arrested and a third is on the run after a domestic incident where a woman was allegedly held against her will at a house in a Newcastle suburb.

Just before 4am, Police were called to a home on Park Avenue, Kotara, following reports a 24-year-old woman had been held against her will by two men – aged 29 and 36 and a 30 year-old woman.

The 24-year-old woman managed to escape and contacted police.

On arrival, officers established a perimeter, shutting a number of streets in and around Park Avenue, after being told an 88-year-old male resident, was being threatened.

After approximately two hours, the 88-year-old was able to leave the home, uninjured.

A short time later, the 36-year-old man ran from the home, before he was arrested near Howell Street.

Police then arrested the 30-year-old woman at the property.

Both are now assisting police with their inquiries.

The 29-year-old also ran from the scene and remains on the run.

The dog unit, and other police resources have been called in to help find the man.
