TWO BOATS SINK IN PORT STEPHENS

It’s been a dangerous few days in the waters of Port Stephens, with authorities attending multiple incidents.

Just this afternoon New South Wales Maritime Services attended Shoal Bay where a vessel had begun to sink.

People appeared to still be on board, struggling to bring it to shore.

We’ll bring you further details on that as they come to hand.

It comes after four people were rescued by emergency services after their craft nearly capsized on the Myall River at Windy Woppa on Tuesday.

The passengers called police as the vessel began to take on water and clinging to the sinking boat with the current carrying them towards Hawks Nest.

When police arrived, the four occupants were spotted without life jackets and attempting to swim the vessel back to shore.

A member of the public assisted in the towage of the boat, bringing the four safely to shore.

No one was injured.
