AUDI AND SMALL TRUCK COLLIDE IN NEWCASTLE OVERNIGHT

Police are appealing for dashcam vision, after five people were injured in a two vehicle crash in Hamilton overnight.

An Audi A4 and Hyundai Mighty truck collided on Gordon Avenue, causing the car to hit a power pole and the truck to flip onto its side.

Emergency services were called to the scene near Everton Street at around 7.30.

The 26-year-old driver of the Audi, was assessed by paramedics and taken to John Hunter hospital for treatment and mandatory testing.

A male passenger was also taken to hospital, with a suspected broken arm.

The 46-year-old truck driver was trapped in the vehicle, but freed by Police Rescue a short time later.

A female passenger and a four-year-old boy were able to free themselves – all three were taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

An investigation is underway.
