SMITH SUPERB IN SERIES OPENER

The Central Coast’s Jemma Smith has had an outstanding start to the Ironwoman Series at Kingscliff.

The 21-year-old was well-back after the opening swim and board legs, and had plenty of work to do when she jumped onto the ski…

But the Australian kayak rep stormed through the field.

“Jemma Smith comes up she made a massive move there in that ski leg it was unbelievable.”

Under the endurance format – competitors had to complete the course a second time.

There was no catching reigning champ Lana Rogers, with Smith powering home for fourth.

The racing continues across the weekend.
