SEARCH FOR DRIVER INVOLVED IN PURSUIT

Police are searching for a male driver who crashed his vehicle following a pursuit last night.

At around 11.40pm, Highway Patrol officers attempted to stop a Holden sedan speeding above the 60km/h speed limit on South Street, South Kempsey.

The driver accelerated which initiated a pursuit along Gowings Hill Road.

Failing to make a corner, the vehicle being chased left the roadway and crashed into trees.

The driver fled as the vehicle went up in flames.

Three passengers, a 28-year-old woman and two kids aged three and four were freed from the vehicle by officers.

They were treated by paramedics and taken to Port Macquarie Hospital with minor injuries.

Police are urging people who may know of the drivers whereabouts to contact Crime Stoppers.
