RESCUES PROMPT WEEKEND SURF WARNING

Hot weather, strong surf and school holiday visitors are a challenging mix, putting surf life savers on alert this weekend.

Rough waters have seen multiple rescues in recent days.

This boatie needed to be helped from their overturned tinny at a pumping Umina Beach, yesterday.

As always we’re being urged to swim between the flags.

“If we can’t see you, we can’t save you,” Surf Life Saving Central Coast CEO, Jon Harkness said.

“So please stay away from unpatrolled beaches, the conditions are still really unpredictable at the moment.”

“So make sure you take an extra five or 10 minutes to go to a patrolled location.”

With many extending their weekend to make the most of the Australia Day public holiday, we’re being reminded drinking and swimming don’t mix.
