There’s been a highly visible police presence on the region’s waterways so far this month.
New England Police have been conducting regular vessel and license checks at both Copeton and Pigari Dams.
Officers say they’ve been impressed with the compliance of locals and have only issued a small number of fines.
The increased patrols will continue until the end of January.
