HUNTER WOMAN ALLEGEDLY SPITS ON POLICE DURING ARREST

A woman has been charged after allegedly spitting on police during an domestic violence related arrest in the Hunter yesterday.

Officers were called to a home on Cedar Close at Metford around 5.10pm, following reports of domestic violence.

Inside the home, they spoke with the couple before attempting to arrest the 48-year-old woman.

Police say she became aggressive and spat on both officers, before kicking and threatening them as they placed her into the police car.

She was taken to Maitland Police Station where she was charged with assault (DV related), not comply with direction re spitting/coughing – COVID-19, and assault police.

She was given conditional bail and will appear in Maitland Local Court in January.
