EMPLOYEE STANDS HER GROUND DURING ALLEGED ARMED ROBBERY AT NEWCASTLE SERVO

A Shell employee has been left shaken after an alleged armed robbery in Newcastle overnight.

A 37-year-old customer walked into the Kotara Coles Express service station on Park Avenue around 6:15pm on Monday.

She then allegedly threatened the 39-year-old employee with a knife and demanded cigarettes.

The worker stood her ground and refused to hand over anything, so the alleged armed robber left the store.

Police officers arrested her a short time later and charged her with robbery armed with an offensive weapon.

She was refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court today.
