PACIFIC HIGHWAY CLOSED SOUTH OF GRAFTON DUE TO BUSHFIRE

Firefighting aircraft have been called in to help get a bushfire under control, which is burning south of Grafton.

The Franklins Road fire has jumped the Pacific Highway and is now at a Watch and Act level.

The road is now closed as the fire burns in a south-easterly direction, being fanned by strong north westely winds.

Residents living along Franklins Road, and areas south of that, are being told to remain on high alert.

The RFS is considering sending it’s large aerial tanker, to help bring the fire under control.
