Tears flowed at Newcastle Airport today too,as the first Melbourne flight touched down.
Inside the arrivals hall, families were reunited after several months apart… for some it was first hugs with mum in well over a year.
“I’m feeling absolutely amazing, I’ve missed my family so much. It’s good to be back.”
Airlines are now ramping up services from Newcastle to Brisbane and Melbourne.
“We expect all going well people use our flights, close to 80% of traffic by Christmas time.”
