HAWKINS NOT GUILTY

A Supreme Court jury has found Newcastle man Daniel Hawkins NOT guilty of murdering a Lake Macquarie father.

Instead, the 32-year-old has been convicted of manslaughter.

Kenneth Denniss was shot by Hawkins in the driveway of a Maryland home in December 2018.

During the trial, jurors heard it stemmed from an argument over a stolen motorbike, and was in retaliation after Mr Denniss stabbed Hawkins.

He’ll be sentenced at a later date.
