MAN CHARGED WITH STEALING, DRUG AND FRAUD OFFENCES

A man will face court today charged with a string of offences around the Hunter Region.

It comes after a police investigation of theft of property – including power tools, electronics, identification cards and bank cards – from several vehicles in Kurri Kurri, Caves Beach, East Maitland and Chisholm, between August 25 and October 21.

Investigators searched a home on Allandale Road, Cessnock, about 11:30am yesterday.

They allegedly found a number of items suspected to be stolen, including assorted bank cards, power tools, 22 cannabis plants and a firework.

A 26-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Cessnock Police Station

He’s been charged with four counts of larceny, 14 counts of dishonestly obtain property by deception, four counts of drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, cultivate prohibited plant, and goods in personal custody suspected being stolen.

The stolen bank cards were allegedly used in fraudulent transactions.

The man was refused bail and is due to appear in Newcastle Local Court today.
