Newcastle will be illuminated this Wednesday night, with the council supporting the ‘Leave A Light On’ event, to remember the missing.
12 landmarks and civic buildings to be lit up, including the City Hall clock tower, Newcastle library, Fort Scratchley and the Civic Theatre.
Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelmes is helping to spread the word and today said “Leave A Light On is a really important community initiative. We, here in Newcastle, have several long term missing people. And this is an intiative, we are lighting up the city – city hall, civic fountain.”
Residents are also being asked to leave their front porch lights on Wednesday night.
